Hawks Travel to Bourbonnais for Walt Cramer Open

Bourbonnais, IL: The Hawks women's track and field team had a strong showing at the Walt Cramer Open, hosted at the Perry Center at Olivet Nazarene University. A total of 10 Hawks competed in the meet, with standout performances across the board.

Athlete of the Week

Lucia Sanchez Scriven was awarded the Hawks' Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Week after a stellar performance in the field events. She finished 3rd in pole vault with a height of 7' 10.5", took 2nd in long jump with a leap of 16' 0.5", and earned 4th in triple jump, reaching 31' 9.5". Sanchez Scriven was a key contributor to the Hawks' success in the meet.

Sprints
On the track, three women competed in the 60m dash, with
Caitlin Basco leading the pack. Basco clocked in at 8.55, securing a spot on the Hawks Indoor Top 10 List. Perla Vargas (8.58) and Zoe Pavlu (8.99) also competed, rounding out a strong sprinting group. All three women returned for the 200m, joined by Delaney Gale. Vargas led the team with a time of 28.63, while Gale (28.73) and Basco (28.75) followed closely behind. Pavlu improved from her previous meet, finishing in 29.86.

Middle Distance & Distance

Natalia Pocica was the lone representative in the 400m, finishing with a solid time of 64.49. In her first-ever 3k race, Roza Puchalski impressed with a time of 12:07.58, earning a spot on the Hawks' Indoor Top 10 List. Gale also raced the 60m hurdles, clocking a time of 10.15.

Jumps
Joining
Sanchez Scriven in the triple jump was Pocica, who posted an indoor personal best of 33' 6.75". This mark landed her in second place on the Hawks Indoor Top 10 List.  

Throws
The throwing squad showed up strong, led by
Rose Wagner, who set a personal best in the weight throw with a mark of 35' 1.25". Hannah Schulz threw 29' 10.25", and Kasey Ledinsky reached 26' 5". In shot put, Ledinsky led the way with a throw of 30' 2.25", meeting the 2025 NJCAA National Qualifying standard. Schulz posted a mark of 28' 9", while Wagner also set a personal best in shot put with a throw of 26' 7.25".

Looking Ahead
The Hawks will look to build on these performances as they head to the Tadd Metzger Invitational at Carthage College on Saturday, February 8th.
