Doug Spiwak Inducted into NACDA Hall of Fame

Palatine, IL: The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) has announced that Doug Spiwak, longtime Director of Athletics and Fitness at Harper College, will be inducted into the NACDA Hall of Fame in recognition of his outstanding contributions to two-year college athletics.

Spiwak, who retired from Harper College in June 2022 after a remarkable 33-year career, has left a lasting impact on community college athletics at the local, regional, and national levels. Leading Harper's athletic department since 2004, Spiwak previously served as head athletic trainer for 15 years. Under his leadership, the Harper Hawks captured 27 NJCAA national championships, solidifying the institution's reputation for excellence in athletics.

Beyond Harper, Spiwak has been a pivotal figure in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), serving in key leadership roles including Region 4 men's director, women's assistant region director, and chair positions for NJCAA Division I tennis, football, and Division III volleyball. His influence extended to national governance as president of the National Alliance of Two Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA), where he presided over the 2019 convention in Orlando and continues to serve on the executive board. He also chaired the NJCAA National Student-Athlete Success Council, further demonstrating his commitment to student-athlete development.

Spiwak's exceptional career was previously recognized with the 2019-20 NACDA Under Armour Athletic Director of the Year award for the Junior College/Community College division. His leadership within the North Central Community College Conference (N4C) and dedication to advancing two-year college athletics have earned him a well-deserved place among the sport's most influential administrators.

The NACDA Hall of Fame induction serves as a fitting tribute to Spiwak's decades of service, leadership, and passion for collegiate athletics. His legacy at Harper College and beyond will continue to inspire future generations of student-athletes and administrators.
