Harper College Names Dr. Cedric M. Brown as Next Athletic Director

Palatine, IL: Harper College has announced that Dr. Cedric M. Brown has been selected as the next Athletic Director.

Dr. Brown brings over 30 years of experience in athletics to Harper, including seven years in athletic administration, more than 20 years of coaching, and seven years as a full-time faculty member in physical education and teaching.

Previously serving as the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Administration at Southern Utah University, Dr. Brown has held leadership roles as the Director of Athletics at Lewis & Clark Community College and as District Wellness Coordinator with the Ferguson-Florissant School District. His background in higher education includes teaching positions at Lakeland College and Missouri Baptist University.

Dr. Brown's educational credentials include:
  • Ph.D. in Organizational Development and Leadership in Sport Fitness and Wellness Management – University of Arizona Global Campus
  • M.S. in Sports Pedagogy – South Dakota State University
  • B.S. in Recreation Education – Lehman College
He also holds professional certificates in Sports Management and Athlete Management.

As a coach, Dr. Brown has worked at several levels of men's basketball, including head coach at Lakeland College and assistant coaching positions at Lewis & Clark Community College, Chicago State University, Mineral Area College, Trinity Valley Community College, and Parkland College.

Beyond his administrative and coaching career, Dr. Brown is a former professional football player, having competed with the Schwabisch Hall Unicorns in Germany (1996) and the Kokomo Mustangs semi-professional team in Indiana (1994–95). He was mentored during his professional sports career by NFL agent Dr. Lynn Lashbrook and NBA agent Joel Corry.
