Hawks Partners with Rupley Elementary for “Baseball Buddies” Program

Elk Grove, IL: This fall, the Hawks baseball team teamed up with a fourth-grade class at Rupley Elementary School to create a unique and inspiring learning partnership. Through the "Baseball Buddies" program, Harper players visited the classroom twice a week to mentor students, assist with lessons, and celebrate academic achievements.

The players worked one-on-one with students on their iReady lessons, encouraging critical thinking, confidence, and perseverance. Beyond academics, the visits included celebration lunches, shared stories, and words of advice—helping students see that their dreams are attainable and that hard work pays off.

The partnership has been a rewarding experience for both the students and the Hawks, reinforcing Harper's commitment to community engagement and mentorship. The class plans to attend a Harper baseball game this spring to celebrate the ongoing connection.
