Hawks Place Third at Al Hanke Invitational

Elmhurst, IL: The Hawks wrestling team turned in a strong performance at the Al Hanke Invitational, finishing third out of 15 teams behind the University of Chicago and the Milwaukee School of Engineering. The Hawks showed depth across the lineup, with seven wrestlers earning top-eight finishes and one individual champion.

Joshua King led the way for Harper, capturing the 285-pound title with an impressive run through the heavyweight bracket. Samuel Sikorsky continued his strong freshman season with a runner-up finish at 133 pounds, while Esteban Delgado (125 lbs) and Maguire Hoeksema (157 lbs) each battled their way to third-place finishes.

In the middleweights, Michael Galloway placed fourth at 149 pounds, and teammate Chase McCluskey finished eighth in the same bracket. Tyson Poyer also earned an eighth-place finish at 174 pounds, rounding out the Hawks' group of placers.

Former Hawks Christopher Kish and Joey Sikorsky also wrestled for Carthage and North Central. They finished 1st and 2nd at 125 pounds giving the Hawks the top 3 spots at that weight class.

The Hawks will return to action at home on January 24 for the 2nd annual Stormin' Norman Memorial Tournament, an event held annually in honor of former head coach Norman Lovelace, who led the Harper program from 1974 to 1998.
