Hawks Take Second at Battle for the Helmet

Mason City, IA: The Hawks wrestling team opened the new year with a strong showing at the Battle for the Helmet, finishing second out of seven teams behind only Southeast Community College. The Hawks continued to demonstrate depth throughout the lineup, earning two individual titles, two runner-up finishes, and nine additional placers across multiple weight classes.

Leading the way were
Truth Vesey (125 lbs) and Aiden Cohen (165 lbs), who each captured individual championships. Vesey went 4-0 on the day, earning three technical falls and another decisive win to take the top spot in his bracket. Cohen also finished 4-0, collecting victories in multiple ways as he maintained his strong midseason form.

Maguire Hoeksema (157 lbs) and Joshua King (285 lbs) both earned runner-up finishes for Harper. Hoeksema went 2-1 with two tight decisions, while King went 1-1 with a pin in his semifinal match.

With 13 total placers, the Hawks continued to show team-wide consistency and competitive balance against a talented field. The performance marked another step forward as Harper builds toward postseason competition.

The Hawks will next compete at the NJCAA National Duals, hosted by Niagara County Community College, where they'll face some of the nation's top programs.
