Hawks Continue Momentum at Chicagoland Indoor Championships

Naperville, IL: The Hawks women's track and field team competed in their fourth meet of the season at the Chicagoland Indoor Championships, hosted by North Central College at the Al B. Carius Track in Naperville. The Hawks fielded their largest lineup of the season so far, with four athletes competing—Kasey Ledinsky, Lucy Reyna, Hannah Schulz, and Valerie Ortega (/Dundee-Crown High School), who made her season debut.

Ledinsky continued to showcase her versatility, competing in the shot put, 800m, and 3,000m. She recorded a personal best in the 800m, clocking 2:34.92, and continued her consistent progression in all three events.

Reyna remained steady in the pole vault, while also adding the triple jump to her event lineup and racing the 200m for the third time this season, gaining valuable multi-event experience heading into the latter part of the schedule.

Schulz once again led the Hawks in the throws, posting another strong performance. After setting a personal best in the shot put last week, Schulz did it again—this time in the weight throw, launching a personal best mark of 39' 7.75" (12.08m). She also threw 33' 3.25" (10.14m) in the shot put to continue her impressive indoor campaign.

Valerie Ortega made her season debut in the 200m, running 29.93 to set a new indoor personal best, marking a strong start to her year.

The Hawks will return to North Central College next week for the F. Lee Slick Invitational on February 20th, as they continue building toward the NJCAA Indoor Championships.
