Hawks Open Outdoor Season with Record-Breaking Performances

Naperville, IL: The Hawks women's track and field team opened their outdoor season with a statement performance, highlighted by a school record, multiple national qualifiers, and strong early-season marks across the board.

Kasey Ledinsky led the way with a historic debut in the 3000m steeplechase, setting a school record time of 12:26.99 while also meeting the national qualifying standard. Her performance currently ranks first in the nation among NJCAA Division III athletes. Ledinsky continued her outstanding day on the track with a personal best in the 800m, running 2:32.00, which places her second nationally. She also contributed in the field, competing in both the hammer throw and discus, meeting the national qualifying standard in the hammer and currently sitting eighth in the nation.

Hannah Schulz joined Ledinsky in the throws and delivered an impressive performance of her own. She set a personal best in the hammer throw, meeting the national qualifying standard and moving into the No. 2 spot nationally. Schulz also met the qualifying standard in the discus, where she is currently ranked third, and competed in the shot put to round out a strong showing.

In the jumps and sprints, Lucy Reyna continued her progress with an outdoor personal best in the pole vault, clearing 8' 1.5" (2.47m). She also set an outdoor PR in the 200m, running 30.10. Daisy Flores competed in multiple events as well, participating in the long jump, triple jump, and 200m, where she recorded an outdoor personal best of 29.71.

With a strong start to the outdoor campaign, the Hawks will look to build on their momentum at the Chicagoland Outdoor Championships, taking place April 9th through 11th.
