Hawks Close Indoor Season at Firebird Finale

Kenosha, WI: The Hawks women's track and field team wrapped up their indoor season at the Firebird Finale, hosted by Carthage College at the Tarble Athletic Center in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Four Hawks competed in the final meet of the season, with Kasey Ledinsky, Valerie Ortega, Lucy Reyna, and Hannah Schulz all turning in strong performances highlighted by multiple personal bests and movement in the program record book.

Ledinsky competed in both the mile and 800m, closing her indoor season on a high note with a personal best time of 2:34.76 in the 800m. Ortega continued her strong progression in the sprints, setting personal bests in both the 55m and 400m. Her 400m performance also earned her a spot in program history, ranking 9th all time indoors for the Hawks.

Reyna delivered one of the top performances of the day in the pole vault, clearing a personal best height of 8' 4.75" (2.56m). That mark moves her up to 5th all time in indoor program history.

In the throws, Schulz capped off an outstanding indoor campaign by setting another personal best in the weight throw. Her mark moves her all the way up to 2nd all time for the Hawks, continuing her steady climb throughout the season. She also competed in the shot put to round out her day.

With the indoor season complete, the Hawks will now turn their attention to the outdoor season, which begins at the end of March.
