Hawks Claim Three Titles at Whizzer Open

Dearborn, MI: The Hawks wrestling team continued its strong stretch of midseason form with an impressive showing at the Whizzer Open, hosted by Henry Ford College in Dearborn, Michigan, on February 1. The Hawks came away with three individual champions and a runner-up finish, further solidifying their momentum heading into the postseason.

Leading the way were
Maguire Hoeksema (157 lb), Aiden Cohen (165 lb), and Joshua King (285 lb), each of whom captured titles in their respective weight classes. Hoeksema's win marked another step forward in a season that has seen him consistently contend with the best in his division. Cohen continued his dominant run through the 165-pound field, showcasing the experience and control that have made him one of Harper's most reliable point scorers. King capped off the day with a title at heavyweight, using his power and composure to close out matches decisively.

Michael Merevick (184 lb) also turned in a strong performance, finishing as the runner-up after a solid day on the mat. His effort rounded out a well-balanced team showing that reflected Harper's depth across multiple weight classes.

With another productive weekend behind them, the Hawks now turn their attention to a key home event, the Region 4 Duals, hosted by Harper this Saturday, where they'll look to defend their home mat and continue their push toward the postseason.
