VINCENNES, Ind. – Despite the third straight complete game from Scott Plaza (Arlington Heights, Ill., Prospect), the Harper College baseball team dropped both games of a double-header to Vincennes College, falling 2-0 in game one and 11-2 in game two.

Plaza (1-3) faced one over the minimum through four innings while not allowing a hit in the opener  But in the fifth, two singles to lead off the inning from Vincennes combined with a Hawk error led to two unearned runs.  Those were the only two hits Plaza gave up.

John Caravia (Norridge, Ill., Ridgewood) and Kevin Robinson (Schaumburg, Ill., Conant) each doubled while Dan Duran (Skokie, Ill., Niles West) had the team's other hit.

In the nightcap, Harper climbed ahead right away.  Mark Sarti (Palatine, Ill., Palatine) led off with a single and a Caravia double put two men in scoring position with no one out.  Nick Spagnola (Algonquin, Ill., Dundee-Crown) took advantage with an RBI groundout.  Two batters later, Andrew Skinner (Lyons, Ill., St. Joseph) came through with a two-out run-scoring single to score Caravia.

Greg Fox (Woodridge, Ill., Downers Grove South) shut down Vincennes in the bottom of the first but the Trailblazers exploded for six runs in the second, a single run in the third and four runs in the fourth.

Harper will continue their spring trip tomorrow against Lincoln Trail College.  First pitch is at 3:00 PM.
