Trojans Take Two From Hawks Despite Duran's Monster Day

PALATINE, Ill. – Despite five hits from Dan Duran (Skokie, Ill., Niles West), the Harper College baseball team dropped both ends of a double-header to Triton College, 14-7 and 6-4.

Duran went 3-for-3 in the opener including a double and a home run, helping the Hawks to a six-run second inning in which they took a 6-4 lead.  But Triton (34-16) scored at least one run in the last six innings to claim the victory.  Connor McHugh (Hoffman Estates, Ill., Schaumburg) and John Caravia (Norridge, Ill., Ridgewood) each had two hits for the Hawks.  Ricky Janokowicz (Carol Stream, Ill., Glenbard North) took the loss on the hill for Harper (19-24, 5-7 N4C).

The Hawks also jumped on top early in game two with a pair of first inning runs, but a three-run fifth inning propelled the Trojans to the win in game two.  Kevin Robinson (Schaumburg, Ill., Conant) smacked his sixth home run of the season and drove in three runs while Duran had two more hits in the nightcap.  Tyler Tureck (Barrington, Ill., Barrington) gave up five runs in five innings to take the loss.
