Harper College Softball Makes the Most of Four Hits in 8-7 Victory over Madison College

Both Harper College and Madison College put runners aboard on Sunday, but it was the Hawks that were able to take advantage, pulling out an 8-7 win at Madison. Madison College had six hits compared with the Hawks' four, but Madison stranded seven runners on base. Harper staved off Madison as the Wolfpack was unable to match the Hawks down the stretch. Madison College scored five runs in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Hanke, two singles, and a two-run triple by Edgren. Despite its efforts, Madison  couldn't get over the hump. Amanda Forssander racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Hawks. She singled in the second, third, and fourth innings. Paige Ward recorded the win for Harper College even though she allowed five runs over 6 1/3 innings. She struck out one, walked one and surrendered five hits. In the top of the first, Madison  grabbed the early lead, 2-0. A single byWagner, bringing home Bell and Shaner started the inning off. Harper went up for good in the third, scoring two runs on an RBI single by Forssander. The Hawks piled on five more runs in the bottom of the fourth. A hit into a fielder's choice scored Kaitlyn Keegan for the inning's first run.
