Harper College Hawks lost a battle of the bats on Friday at Harper, falling short in a 11-10 ballgame against College of Dupage.
 
Amanda Forssander (Mount Prospect, Ill./Prospect) had two extra-base hits for Harper College Hawks. She singled in the third inning, tripled in the fifth inning, and doubled in the seventh inning.
 
Rachel D got the win for College of Dupage despite allowing 10 runs over seven innings. She struck out three, walked three and surrendered nine hits.
 
College of Dupage's Natalie N, Courtney P and Karen C combined for seven hits and four RBIs.
 
College of Dupage jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first. A single by Karen C, scoring Brandi R started the inning off. The scoreboard lit up again for College of Dupage when N and C scored on a groundout by Katy D.
 
Harper College Hawks tied the game in the second on a passed ball that scored Kaitlyn Keegan (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove).
 
College of Dupage never surrendered the lead after the third inning, scoring four runs on an RBI double by Stephanie D, a two-run error, and a steal of home by N.
 
College of Dupage matched its one-run fourth inning with one more in the sixth. In the fourth, College of Dupage scored on an RBI single by N, bringing home R.
 
Three runs in the bottom of the fifth helped Harper College Hawks close its deficit to 8-6. An RBI triple by Paige Ward (Palatine, Ill./Conant), an error, and a groundout by Jaz Skor gave Harper College Hawks life. Keegan grounded out to end the Harper College Hawks threat.
 
College of Dupage tacked on another two runs in the seventh. A error scored Cayla C to start the scoring in the inning.
 
Four runs in the bottom of the seventh helped Harper College Hawks close its deficit to 11-10. A two-run double by Forssander, a wild pitch, and an error sparked Harper College Hawks' rally. The game went final when Megan Kollemeyer grounded out.
