Stephanie Bynes did all she could to give the Hawks a boost, but it wasn't enough to get past Sauk Valley, as Harper lost 5-0 in seven innings at Dixon, illinois on Sunday.
Harper was led by Bynes' hitting. Bynes went 1-2. She singled in the sixth inning.
Brianna Shultz got it done in the circle on the way to a win. She pitched four shutout innings. Shultz struck out six, walked none and gave up one hit.
Sauk Valley stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the first, scoring one run on a hit by pitch.
After posting two runs in the third, Sauk Valley again scored two in the fifth. In the third, Sauk Valley scored on a steal of home, bringing home Kelsey Hagan.
A single by Therese Jorde ignited the offense,, scoring Cati Barthlolene. That was followed up by Beth Fuller's double, plating Courtney Shepard.
