MALTA, Ill. – The Harper softball team struggled to find offensive production on Wednesday afternoon at Kishwaukee College. The Hawks were shut out, 2-0, in the first game by the Kougars and lost 9-1 in game two.

In game one, Harper (3-7) managed just three hits off Jasmine Kerley, who also struck out seven in seven innings. The Kougars (7-6) scored on a Courtney Olufs RBI double in the second and a Sabrina Kileen RBI single in the fifth inning.

Olivia Hamilton (Homewood, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) pitched a solid game for the Hawks, giving up just one earned run on five hits in six innings of work.

After a Sam Cummings (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) RBI single gave Harper a 1-0 lead in game one, Kishwaukee responded with four runs in the bottom half of the first inning to take control. The Kougars tacked on two more runs in the fifth and three in the sixth inning to pick up the win.

The Hawks managed just four hits in the contest.  Lane Winkler (Arlington Heights, Ill./Rolling Meadows) was 1-for-2 with a double, and Sara Markelonis (Cary, Ill./Cary-Grove) was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Harper has a quick turnaround as they play a doubleheader at College of Lake County (5-4) on Thursday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
