Box Score 2 GRAYSLAKE, Ill. – The Harper College softball team suffered a tough pair of losses at College of Lake County on Thursday afternoon.
In the first game, Harper (3-7) tied the game at 2-2 on Jessica McCabe (Arlington Heights, Ill. /Prospect )'s RBI double in the sixth inning. However, the Lancers (7-4) won in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the seventh inning on an RBI double by Kayla Uhwat.
Harper's Olivia Hamilton (Homewood, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) (3-5) was saddled with the loss despite pitching well. Hamilton yielded just one earned run on seven hits and struck out six in 6 1/3 innings, and she was also 2-for-3 at the plate. The Hawks had nine hits in the game. Raegan Fingerman (Fox River Grove, Ill./Barrington) was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Sam Cummings (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) went 2-for-4 with a triple.
Despite another strong offensive showing in game two, Harper lost the game 7-3 in five innings. The Hawks pounded 10 hits, led by Sara Markelonis (Cary, Ill./Cary-Grove)' 3-for-3 game. Emily Butler (Prospect Heights, Ill./Hersey) was 2-for-2 with a run scored, but Harper only managed to score in one inning (three runs in second inning).
Lake County swung the bats well against Markelonis (0-2) in game two, compiling 10 hits. Nicole Livengood was 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs, and Kaylene Reeser was 3-for-3 with a double, triple and an RBI. The Lancers did most of their damage early on as they scored six runs in the first two innings.
The Hawks' next games are at Oakton Community College on Wednesday, March 25 beginning at 3 PM.
