Box Score 2 OGLESBY, Ill. – The Harper College baseball team found it tough to score runs on Saturday afternoon at Illinois Valley Community College. The Hawks scored just one run and lost the two games, 6-0 and 7-1.
Harper (3-7) managed just one hit in game one. The Eagles (9-2) did all of their scoring in a six-run third inning. Brandon Kaminski (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic ) (0-2) lasted only 2 1/3 innings and was charged with the loss. Nate Paprota (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central) pitched 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief for the Hawks.
In game two, Roy Pettingill (Mount Prospect, Ill. /St. Viator) plated Chuck Terron (Tyrone, Ga./Sandy Creek) with an RBI single in the first inning to give Harper an early edge. The Illinois Valley bats got going starting in third inning, and they scored a run in the third, fourth, and fifth innings. The Eagles then had six hits in a four-run sixth inning to push the lead to 7-1. The Hawks managed seven hits in the game, led by Pettingill's 3-for-3 performance.
Matt Ittersagen (Wheeler, Ind./Wheeler) (1-1) allowed just one earned run and struck out six over 4 1/3 innings but got the loss.
The Hawks are back in action on Monday at Judson University JV in Elgin. First pitch of game one of the doubleheader is at 5:30 PM.
