Box Score PALATINE, Ill. – The Harper College softball team continued to swing the bats well on Saturday afternoon against visiting Elgin Community College. The Hawks tallied 12 hits in a 13-3 victory over the Spartans to run their winning streak to three games.
After Elgin struck first with two runs off Harper starter Olivia Hamilton (Homewood, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) in the first inning, the Hawks (6-7) put four runs on the board in the bottom half of the inning, capped off by a Jamie Haze (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) two-run single. The Spartans scored in the third inning on an Amanda Eissler base RBI single to left, but Harper tagged Elgin pitching for six more runs in the bottom of the third, including a two-run single by Beth Petrunich (McHenry, Ill./McHenry East).
Jessica McCabe (Arlington Heights, Ill. /Prospect )'s two-run double in the fourth pushed the lead to 12-3, and two batters later, Petrunich (3-for-4, three RBIs) doubled to score Hamilton. Hamilton (5-5) pitched a scoreless fifth inning to end the game. The freshman yielded three earned runs and struck out seven in the game.
Offensively, Raegan Fingerman (Fox River Grove, Ill./Barrington) went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Lane Winkler (Arlington Heights, Ill./Rolling Meadows) was 2-for-2 with a double and two runs.
