Hawks Hitting Stride

Palatine, Ill- The Harper College men's basketball team picked up its third straight win on Tuesday on the road against Oakton Community College (3-7). The Hawks (4-9) trailed by four points at the half, but rallied back for the second straight game to pick up the win 70-65.

The Hawks were led by freshman forward Joey Gatziolis who scored 15 points (6-12 FG's, 2-2 FT's) and added eight rebounds. Off the bench, lone Hawks sophomore, Marcus Dover (/Schaumburg), scored 12 points (5-9 FG's) in a strong performance. Marquis Woodard (/Schaumburg) almost collected a double-double for Harper with 11 points and eight assists.

First year head coach, Sean Stochl, was pleased with the Hawks effort and the recent win streak.

"We did not play our best game, but it was a team effort to win this one," Stochl said. "We still have areas to improve upon, but I was pleased with the second half we played."

The Hawks will look to continue their winning ways on Dec. 13 when they hit the road for a 7PM tilt with Prairie State College (5-5). After that, the Hawks head home for the first time in more than two weeks to take on Moraine Valley on Dec 15. The Hawks battled the Cyclones (3-6) for the second time in four games. In the first matchup, Harper rallied back from an 11-point halftime deficit to outscore its opponent by 22 points in the second half, claiming a 99-88 victory.
