Box Score 4 N4C Softball Dome Jamboree Results
ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Harper College softball team opened its season over the weekend and gained valuable experience at the 2016 N4C Softball Dome Jamboree. The Hawks played five N4C games and one nonconference game in the three-day jamboree held at The Dome at the Ballpark.
Game 1 (Friday, 1 PM)-Harper College vs. Joliet Junior College
In their 2016 season opener, the Hawks managed just three hits in an 8-0 loss to the Wolves. Jordan Dallman (Roselle, Ill. /Lake Park)n, Isabelle McGuinnis (Arlington Heights, Ill. /Hersey), and Jessica McCabe (Itasca, Ill. /Prospect ) each collected a hit. McGuinnis pitched all five innings for Harper. The Hawks trailed just 2-0 after three frames before the Wolves scored six runs in the final two innings to seal the victory.
Game 2 (Friday, 5 PM)-Harper College vs. Triton College
Harper had a tough time with a hot-hitting Triton team, falling 12-2 in five innings. The Hawks managed three hits in the game, highlighted by a pair of triples from McGuinnis and McCabe.
McGuinnis lasted three innings in the circle before being relieved by Kelsey Hughes (Hanover Park, Ill. /Schaumburg).
Game 3 (Saturday, 9 AM)-Harper College vs. College of DuPage
Saturday's morning matchup between Harper and COD turned into a slugfest from the get-go. The Hawks and Chaparrals both scored nine runs in the first inning alone. Harper took a brief 10-9 lead after two frames, but COD scored nine times in the next three innings to win 18-10.
The Hawks had four hitters record two or more hits, led by McCabe and Jill Hoffman (Arlington Heights, Ill./Hersey). McCabe was 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored out of the leadoff spot, and Hoffman was a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a run out of the seven-hole. Dallmann and McGuinnis were both 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
Game 4 (Saturday, 1 PM)-Harper College vs. No. 1 Rock Valley College
Harper squared off with the two-time defending national champion Golden Eagles on Saturday afternoon. Rock Valley scored 11 times in the first inning on the way to a victory over the Hawks. Harper managed two hits in the game. Hoffman and Danielle Reptowski (Hanover Park, Ill./Schaumburg) both had singles.
Game 5 (Saturday, 7 PM)-Harper College vs. Prairie State College
Harper played Prairie State in a nonconference game Saturday night to wrap up the tripleheader. The Pioneers used an eight-run third inning to pick up a 16-2 victory over the Hawks.
The Hawks once again got production from McCabe, who was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs. Reptowski, Dallmann, and shortstop Sandra Portogallo (Elk Grove Village, Ill. /Conant) all had hits in the game.
Game 6 (Sunday, 11 AM)-Harper College vs. Madison College
The Hawks closed out the weekend with a Sunday morning N4C tilt against the WolfPack. Harper kept it close, trailing 4-0 after five innings, but Madison blew the game open with a six-run sixth and went on to win 10-2.
Offensively, the Hawks collected seven hits, including two-hit efforts from Portogallo, Dallmann, and McGuinnis. McGuinnis also batted in two runs and pitched six innings.
Upcoming Schedule
The Hawks will open their home schedule on Sunday, March 20 against College of Lake County. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 12 PM. Harper will play on the road for the first time on Saturday, April 2 at McHenry County College.
