PALATINE, Ill. – The Harper College baseball team faced different dilemmas in each game against Madison College on Tuesday afternoon.  In the first game, the Hawks couldn't solve WolfPack starter Jake Kopp in a 3-0 loss. In the second game, Madison hitters swung the bats very well in a 14-4 triumph over Harper.

Game 1: Madison College 3, Harper College 0

The Hawks (1-16, 0-11 N4C) stayed close in game one behind the pitching of Travis Lindquist (Madison, Wis. /James Madison Memorial ). Lindquist pitched around six walks and eight hits in a complete game effort. The freshman threw 74 of 123 pitches for strikes, surrendered three runs (one earned) and stuck out three.

Offensively, Harper managed five hits but stranded nine runners. Paul Kramolisch (/Bolingbrook) and Nick Leone (Elmhurst, Ill. /York) were both 1-for-3 with a double.

Game 2: Madison College 14, Harper College 4 (6 innings)

Despite a better offensive output, the Hawks could not keep up with a Madison attack that recorded 17 hits, scored at least a run in every inning, and scored six times in the sixth inning. Christian Poulsen (Schaumburg, Ill. /Schaumburg) was a bright spot at the plate for Harper, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored.  Branden Davis (/Rich East) drove in two runs, and David Dugger (Matteson, Ill. /Rich Central) went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Clint O'Neal (Farmer City, Ill./Blue Ridge) (0-3) suffered the loss on the mound for the Hawks, giving up six runs (three earned) in four innings. Theo Denlingelr (1-1) picked up the win with five innings of three-hit ball while surrendering a pair of unearned runs.
