Box Score 4 PALATINE, Ill. – The Harper College softball team hosted a pair of nonconference doubleheaders over the weekend. The Hawks (1-21) lost both games to Sauk Valley Community College and dropped a pair of contests to McHenry County College.
Game 1 (Saturday, 12 PM)-Harper College vs. Sauk Valley Community College
The Hawks got some early offense with RBI hits from Danielle Reptowski (Hanover Park, Ill./Schaumburg) and Sandra Portogallo (Elk Grove Village, Ill. /Conant) and trailed just 3-2 after three frames. But a two-run fourth and 11-run fifth inning from the Skyhawks broke open the game and gave the visitors a 16-3 win in five innings. Harper was also hampered by seven errors.
Reptowski (2-for-3, two runs, RBI) and Portogallo (2-for-2, walk, RBI) were the primary sources of offense for Harper.
Game 2 (Saturday, 2 PM)-Harper College vs. Sauk Valley Community College
Game two was a different story as Harper nearly erased a six-run deficit. Trailing 10-4 in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Hawks sent eight batters to the plate and scored four runs to cut the deficit to 10-8. In that frame, Kelsey Hughes (Hanover Park, Ill. /Schaumburg) delivered a two-run single, and Portogallo delivered a two-out single scoring Hughes. Catcher Jordan Dallmann (Roselle, Ill. /Lake Park) knocked Portogallo in with a RBI triple.
Sauk Valley got an insurance run in the seventh to push the lead to 11-8, and the Hawks could only manage one baserunner in the bottom half of the inning.
Game 1 (Sunday, 12 PM)-Harper College vs. McHenry County College
On Sunday afternoon, the Hawks appeared to be on the verge of their second win of the season as they led 7-5 after six innings. However, McHenry rallied for five runs in the seventh to pull out a 10-7 victory.
The Harper offense was potent in game one, racking up 12 hits. Courtney Russ (Lake Zurich, Ill. /Lake Zurich) and Isabelle McGuinnis (Arlington Heights, Ill. /Hersey) both had three-hit games and an RBI. Dallmann was 1-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, and Portogallo was 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI.
Game 2 (Sunday, 2 PM)-Harper College vs. McHenry County College
An early RBI double in the first inning from Emily Butler (Prospect Heights, Ill./Hersey) (2-for-3) in game two seemed to be a sign of offense to come, but the Hawks' bats were quieted for the next five innings in a 9-3 loss. Harper trailed 9-1 before scratching across two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The Scots outhit the Hawks 11-6 in the second game, and Harper committed three errors.

The Hawks will host Oakton Community College on Tuesday, April 26 for a doubleheader beginning at 3 PM.
