CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. – The Harper College baseball team had a challenging time against the McHenry County College hitters on Thursday evening. The Scots had 10 hits in both games of the doubleheader on their way to 11-1 and 13-3 victories over the Hawks.

Harper (0-13) managed just three hits off MCC (17-8) pitching in game one. Nick Kouzios (Crystal Lake, Ill. /Prairie Ridge) was 1-for-2 with a double and a run. Harper starting pitcher Clint O'Neal (Farmer City, Ill./Blue Ridge) (0-2) was given the loss, as he gave up four earned runs on ten hits in 4 2/3 innings.

McHenry starter Ben Cusac (2-1) pitched five innings of one-run ball for the win. Nick Vasic was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.

The Hawks got off to a tough start in game two as well, falling into an early 7-0 hole after a half inning. They scored two times in the bottom half of the first and once in the fourth, but MCC added runs in the third and fourth innings and two runs each in the fifth and sixth to close out the game.

Second baseman Paul Kramolisch (/Bolingbrook) was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run for Harper. Jeremiah Mack (/Westinghouse) and Christian Poulsen (Schaumburg, Ill. /Schaumburg) had the other hits for the Hawks. For McHenry, Jack Lasswell hit a grand slam in the win. Austin Butts (1-0) got the win, striking out four over four frames. Harper's Gabe Farrowe (Bloomingdale, Ill. /Lake Park ) (0-1) yielded seven earned runs in three innings of work and collected the loss.

The Hawks are scheduled to play at Milwaukee Area Technical College (2-11, 0-8 N4C) on Saturday and at home against Joliet Junior College (14-18, 6-4 N4C) on Sunday. Check back on the website over the weekend for possible game cancellations and changes due to weather.
