Box Score 2 PALATINE, IL- The Harper College baseball team traveled to Vincennes, Indiana over the weekend and picked up their first two wins of the season. Harper had a couple of home runs over the weekend, one each by Tim Fauth and Danny Schneberger. Josh Caceres had a home run versus Joliet in Harper's first game this season March 2nd.
Harper College grabs lead in fifth inning to defeat Vincennes University (Sat 3/10)
Harper trailed 5-3 in the top of the 5th inning against Vincennes (IN) when Landon Flippin hit a bases loaded double, scoring all three runs, on the first pitch he saw in the at bat. Harper scored five more runs in the top of the 7th inning to secure the victory. Pasquale Atteo got the victory striking out four in four innings. Matt Johnson and Ryan Roberts entered the game out of the bullpen and helped close out the game in relief. Harper totaled 10 hits. Danny Schneberger, Roberto Vargas and Ryan Roberts all collected multiple hits for Harper College. Schneberger went 3-5 at the plate to lead Harper College in hits.
Harper College holds on to beat #5 team in the country Parkland by a score of 7-5
Harper College grabbed an early lead. Harper scored on a 2-2 single by Danny Schneberger (/Palatine), a stolen base by Nick Sbertoli, a walk by Devon Zielke and a 3-2 single scoring two runs by Josh Caceres (/Simeon) in the second inning. Harper pulled away for good with six runs in the second inning. Schneberger and Caceres each collected two hits including a solo home run by Danny Schneberger (/Palatine) in the 3rd inning.
Travis Lindquist was the winning pitcher going five strong innings, keeping Parkland off balance with an outstanding change up and slider striking out five in the process. Brandon Torrence had the hold and freshman Kent Evans got the last two outs for the save in dramatic fashion striking out the Parkland hitter looking on an outside fastball.
The Hawks now move to 2-3 on the season. Their next game will be Wednesday, March 14 at Judson University. First pitch is scheduled for 2pm.
