Hawks Rising in Latest Open Mat Rankings

Palatine, IL: The Hawks wrestling team continues to rise in the national conversation following a strong stretch of performances in January. In the latest Open Mat rankings (Jan. 15–22, 2026), the Hawks moved up to 10th overall in the NJCAA and remain 2nd among non-scholarship programs, trailing only last year's national runner-up, SUNY Niagara. Harper also earned recognition in the team dual rankings, coming in at 15th nationally, reflecting their consistency in dual-meet competition.

Individually, three Hawks continue to make noise on the national scene.
Truth Vesey (125 lb) made the biggest jump, climbing to No. 3 in the country after a series of impressive wins, including multiple victories over ranked opponents. Maguire Hoeksema (157 lb) also moved up, now ranked 9th nationally following strong showings in recent tournaments. Aiden Cohen (165 lb) held steady at No. 6, maintaining his position among the nation's elite in his weight class.

With multiple wrestlers ranked and the team surging into the national top ten, Harper enters the heart of the second semester with strong momentum and eyes firmly set on the postseason.
